Accessibility Statement

We build Your Exit Path so a business owner can research a life-changing decision without hitting technical barriers. This page describes the standards we target, what we've built in, and how to reach us when something falls short.

1. Our commitment

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. That means the site should be usable by people who navigate with a keyboard, screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control, and reduced-motion or high-contrast preferences. It’s an ongoing target, not a one-time certification.

We do not use an “accessibility overlay” that claims to auto-fix issues via AI. The accessibility community has been consistently clear that those tools can hurt real assistive-technology users. We invest in the underlying markup instead.

2. What’s built in

Wherever possible we prefer standards-compliant HTML, semantic landmarks, and native focus management. Highlights:

Semantic structure. Landmark roles (<nav>, <main>, <footer>), heading hierarchy, and skip-to-content links on every page.
Keyboard navigation. Every interactive element is reachable and operable with the keyboard alone. Visible focus outlines are enabled by default and are enhanced further when your OS reports high-contrast mode.
Screen-reader labels. Every icon-only button has an accessible name; form fields carry explicit <label> associations; error messages use role=“alert”.
Reduced motion. All animations respect prefers-reduced-motion at the OS level and can also be disabled from the accessibility widget.
Color and contrast. Text and interactive elements target WCAG AA contrast ratios in both light and dark themes.
Responsive text. Layouts reflow cleanly when text is scaled up to 200% via browser zoom or the widget’s text-size option.

3. The accessibility widget

A floating icon on the bottom-left of every page opens a preferences panel with five user-controlled options:

Text size — Default, Large (112.5%), or Extra (125%). Applied by scaling the root font size so every layout reflows.
Reduce motion — pauses all site animations and transitions, on top of any OS-level preference you may already have.
Underline links — adds a visible underline to every text link so they stand out from surrounding prose.
High contrast — boosts overall contrast via a color filter that composes with the light/dark theme.
Readable font — swaps the display font stack for a plain system UI font with generous letter, word, and line spacing (WCAG recommendations for dyslexia-friendly reading).

Your choices are saved in your browser as yep_a11y_prefs and applied before any content paints, so the settings stick across page loads with no flicker. See the cookie policy for details on local storage.

4. Compatible assistive technology

The site is tested with the following combinations. Others should work too — these are just the ones we actively regression-test:

VoiceOver on macOS Safari and iOS Safari.
TalkBack on Android Chrome.
NVDA and JAWS on Windows (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
Keyboard-only navigation across all major browsers.

5. Known limitations

We’re not perfect. Currently known gaps we’re working to close:

Complex data visualizations on the exit calculator results page ship with alt-text summaries but do not yet include a full data-table fallback for screen readers.
Some third-party embeds (Cal.com booking, when used) don't yet inherit the site’s reduce-motion preference.
The advisor directory currently uses image thumbnails as the primary visual cue; a text-first list view is planned.

6. Feedback and reporting issues

If any content is inaccessible to you, or the widget doesn’t address a specific need, please email us at accessibility@yourexitpath.com. Include:

The URL of the page where you hit the issue.
What you were trying to do.
Your browser, operating system, and any assistive tech you’re using (name and version).

We treat accessibility bugs the same way we treat security reports: acknowledged within two business days, triaged with a plain-English response, and fixed on a timeline proportional to the severity.

7. Legal context

This site is built to comply with Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it applies to consumer-facing web services. EU visitors are also covered by the European Accessibility Act. Nothing in this statement waives any rights you may have under applicable law.
